PA1: SAFE USE OF PESTICIDES. FOUNDATION UNIT

PARTICIPANTS & PRE-REQUISITES

1. Should be physically fit and agile with no history of epilepsy, etc.

2. Minimum age 16yrs.

3.Participants can use own Personal Protective Equipment or we can provide it if required ; NPTC Assessment Schedule Criteria will be supplied.2 passport sized photograph is required.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Understand your duties under the law and help you become a safe and competent pesticide user.
  • Understand what pesticides are and their field of use.
  • State legislation relevant to pesticide application
  • Interpret and use product label information
  • Take the appropriate action to protect individuals and the environment
  • Store and transport pesticides safely
  • Dispose of containers and pesticides safely
  • Correctly record information

DURATION & AWARD

1.         Normal course duration is up to 2 days.

2.         Upon successful completion candidates will be assessed for City and Guilds/NPTC unit PA1

PA2: BOOM MOUNTED APPLICATORS

PARTICIPANTS & PRE-REQUISITES

1. Should be physically fit and agile with no history of epilepsy, etc.

2.Minimum age 16yrs.

3. Participants can use own Personal Protective Equipment or we can provide it if required ; NPTC Assessment Schedule Criteria will be supplied.2 passport sized photograph is required.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

1. Prepare a boom mounted pesticide applicator for work, calibrate it and operate it to ensure correct application rate without risk to themselves, other people and the environment.

2. Use the information detailed on product labels to determine the approved uses for the product and its potential hazards to human safety, non-target areas and the environment in general.

3. Carry out daily and routine maintenance on a boom mounted pesticide applicator.

4. Carry out the correct procedure for cleaning personal protective equipment and application equipment which may have been contaminated with pesticide.

DURATION & AWARD

1.         Normal course duration is up to 2 days.

2.         Upon successful completion candidates will be assessed for City and Guilds/NPTC unit PA6

PA6: HAND HELD APPLICATORS

PARTICIPANTS & PRE-REQUISITES

1. Should be physically fit and agile with no history of epilepsy, etc.

2. Minimum age 16yrs.

3.Participants can use own Personal Protective Equipment or we can provide it if required ; NPTC Assessment Schedule Criteria will be supplied.2 passport sized photograph is required.

2. Use the information detailed on product labels to determine the approved uses for the product and its potential hazards to human safety, non-target areas and the environment in general.

3. Carry out daily and routine maintenance on a hand held pesticide applicator.

4. Carry out the correct procedure for cleaning personal protective equipment and application equipment which may have been contaminated with pesticide.

Go4Skills Pesticide Course

PARTICIPANTS & PRE-REQUISITES

1.Should be physically fit and agile with no history of epilepsy, etc.

2. Minimum age 16yrs. Participants should supply own Personal Protective Equipment.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

 1.Participants state the safety requirements & regulations in relation to spraying operations with an emphasis on safe practices, warning signs etc.

2.Participants prepare for use, inspect and maintain spraying equipment in workshop and field conditions. Includes pre-work checks and routine maintenance in accordance with the manufacturers handbook. .

3.Participants state the importance and functions of a fully trained & competent spraying operator.

4. Participants state and identify the correct protective clothing to wear and the standards required.

5.Participants operate a range of spraying equipment in a safe manner having regard for the safety of themselves, the public, property and environmental factors.

6.Participants understand product labels interpretation

7. Participants identify potential hazards and use appropriate techniques to overcome them.

8. Participants undertake and demonstrate a knowledge of risk assessment methodology.

 

DURATION & AWARD

 1.         Normal course duration is up to 1day.

2.         Upon successful completion candidates will be issued with a go4skills training certificate.

Maximum 10 participants per course.

Participants & Pre Requisites: Prior experience in working with tractors and pesticide application. Participants will be supplied with full PPE for the duration of the course, including overalls, masks and gloves. Proper footwear is required to be wore for duration of the course.

Course objectives: Current Legislation, Personal Protection, Risk Assessment, Maintenance, Calibration and Safe Operation of Boom Sprayer.

Benefits to the candidate: Candidates will be qualified under current legislation to use, store and spray pesticides and can seek employment in Landscaping, Golf Clubs, Green Keeping, Forestry Operations etc.

Duration & Award: Course duration is 2 days, assessment on day 2. Upon successful completion candidates will be awarded QQI Level 5 certificate in Boom Sprayer Pesticide Application.

Participants & Pre Requisites: Prior experience in pesticide application is advised but is not a requirement. Participants will be supplied with full PPE for the duration of the course, including overalls, masks and gloves. Proper footwear is required to be wore for duration of the course.

Course objectives: Current Legislation, Personal Protection, Risk Assessment, Maintenance, Calibration and Safe Operation of Knapsack Sprayer.

Benefits to the candidate: Candidates will be qualified under current legislation to use, store and spray pesticides and can seek employment in Landscaping, Golf Clubs, Green Keeping, Forestry Operations etc.

Duration & Award: Course duration is 2 days, assessment on day 2. Upon successful completion candidates will be awarded QQI Level 5 certificate in Hand Held Pesticide Application.
