PARTICIPANTS & PRE-REQUISITES

1. Should be physically fit and agile with no history of epilepsy, etc.

2. Minimum age 16yrs. Participants should supply own Personal Protective Equipment.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

 1.Participants prepare for use, inspect and maintain grasscutting equipment & cutting attachments in workshop and field conditions. Includes starting procedures, pre-work checks and routine maintenance in accordance with the manufacturers handbook. .

2. Participants state and identify the correct protective clothing to wear and the standards required.

3. Participants operate a range of grasscutting equipment in a safe manner having regard for the safety of themselves, the public, property and environmental factors.

4. Participants identify potential hazards and use appropriate techniques to overcome them.

5. Participants undertake and demonstrate a knowledge of risk assessment methodology.

DURATION & AWARD

 1.         Normal course duration is up to 2 days; 1 day for experienced operators.

2.         Upon successful completion candidates will be issued with a Go 4Skills Award.

SAFE USE OF HEDGE TRIMMERS

PARTICIPANTS & PRE-REQUISITES

1.Should be physically fit and agile with no history of vertigo, epilepsy, etc.

2. Minimum age 16yrs. Participants should supply own Personal Protective Equipment, NPTC White Schedule Leaflets (can be supplied on request) & 1 passport sized photograph.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

 1.Participants state/understand the safety requirements & regulations in relation to Hedge Trimmer operations (mechanical & hand-held).

2. Participants prepare for use, inspect and maintain the Hedge Trimmer to prescribed standards. Includes; starting/stopping, transportation, fuelling and routine maintenance requirements.

3.Participants recognise and use approved techniques for safe and efficient working with the Hedge Trimmer. Demonstrate knowledge of instrument controls, pre-start checks & machine tests, work technique on various ground conditions, working adjacent to highways, emergency procedures, safe working loads, most suitable time of year to trim, etc.

4.Participants identify potential hazards and use appropriate techniques to overcome them. Must undertake and demonstrate a knowledge of risk assessment methodology.

5.Participants must be able to negotiate an obstacle, undertake machine cleaning, post operation inspection and leave a site clean & tidy.

DURATION & AWARD

 1.         Normal course duration is 1 day.

2.         Upon successful completion candidates will be assessed for Go4Skills Ireland certification in safe Use of Hedge Trimmers.

Go4Skills Certificate will be issued on completion of the course.

Fee: €500.00 per course.  Maximum 6 participants per course.

PARTICIPANTS & PRE-REQUISITES

COURSE OBJECTIVES

1.Participants prepare for use, inspect and maintain strimmer/brushcutter in workshop and field conditions. Includes starting procedures, pre-work checks and routine maintenance in accordance with the manufacturers handbook. .

2.Participants state and identify the correct protective clothing to wear and the standards required.

3.Participants carry out fuel mixing correctly and are able to start the brushcutter/strimmer from both a hot and a cold condition in a safe manner.

4.Participants operate the brushcutter/strimmer in a safe manner having regard for the safety of themselves, the public, property and environmental factors.

5.Participants identify potential hazards and use appropriate techniques to overcome them.

6.Participants undertake and demonstrate a knowledge of risk assessment methodology.

 DURATION & AWARD

 1.         Normal course duration is up to 1 day;

2.         Upon successful completion candidates will be issued with a Go4Skills Certificate

PARTICIPANTS & PRE-REQUISITES

COURSE OBJECTIVES

1. Participants state the safety requirements & regulations in relation to operating machinery with an emphasis on safe practices, warning signs and guards

2.Participants prepare for use and inspect equipment & cutting attachments in workshop and field conditions. Includes starting procedures and pre-work checks in accordance with the manufacturers handbook. .

3. Participants state the importance and functions of a fully trained & competent horticultural machinery operator.

4.Participants state and identify the correct protective clothing to wear and the standards required.

5.Participants operate a range of  equipment in a safe manner having regard for the safety of themselves, the public, property and environmental factors.

6.Participants identify potential hazards and use appropriate techniques to overcome them.

7. Participants undertake and demonstrate a knowledge of risk assessment methodology.

DURATION & AWARD

 1. Normal course duration is to 3 days including assessment on the third day

2. Upon successful completion candidates will be issued with QQI Level 3 certification
